Since this is only the third update of the Website File Changes Monitor plugin, we are still finding new ways how to improve the user experience (UX). Thankfully, we get a lot of valuable feedback from the plugin users on how we can make the plugin easier to use and better.
Let’s jump right in and see what is new and improved in update 1.3 of our WordPress file integrity monitor plugin.
UX improvements in update 1.3
Timestamp of file change: with this update the plugin reports the date and time when it identified the file change. The format of the date and time in the plugin is the same as that configured on the WordPress website.
Option to exclude directory in which a file change is detected: until this update you could only exclude a directory from the file integrity monitor from the plugin settings. However, now you can exclude a directory from the scan results:
Improved file changes scan status feedback: in previous versions you could tell that a scan is finished from the reported file changes. However, it was not possible to confirm that a scan ran when there were no file changes. In this update we have included a notification that serves as a confirmation.
Other noteworthy plugin improvements
Also in this update, we have added:
- a new setting to enable debug logs (only required for support and troubleshooting technical issues),
- a notification for when the permalinks are not configured,
- improved the text / help text in the settings page,
- Increased the error reporting of the scan engine in case of issues.
For a complete list of what is new, improved and fixed in update 1.3 please read the plugin change log.
